2013_09_16 Monday: Mestia - Adishi

Woke up at 6:40, breakfast at 7:15, met Nadav and Valeria at 08:00. We met up with three more folks (Ruth, Alex, and ??), and started the hike at 8:30.

The hike started properly: we couldn't find the starting point, and wasted 30 min. At 9:00 we started the actual hike.

The hike wasn't too hard (1400m - 2100m) as the slope wasn't too steep for the most part. The views were great and the weather very convenient.

At 16:15 we arrived to Zhabeshi, from where we got a jeep to Adishi. It's a 2 hour drive, which we shared with another couple we met on the way (she's a Brit, he's American/Israeli - both Jewish).

The ride was interesting: when I buckled up, the driver asked that I unbuckle, the back side window was all taped, thus permanently closed, the front window next to the driver was permanently open.. At some point we reached a river crossing that had no bridge. That's where the ride ended it seemed. A guy with a horse showed up. The horse couldn't cross the river either. We managed to barely cross it on its edge.

River Crossed!

We then walked for another 20 min or more to get to the guesthouse. The village is real beaten up, and since it had been raining it was difficult to tell the difference between the mud and the cow/horse shit that was on the ground in abundant quantities.. On top of it all, walking behind the horse was often unpleasant due it farting repeatedly...

At the guesthouse we met a very nice Flemish couple. The guesthouse (Nino again), wasn't the most inviting. Yet dinner was pretty good with fantastic bread, which was made on the spot. The Jewish couple keeps kosher, thus they didn't eat the food served (brought their own), and in particular, they skipped the fantastic freshly made bread. The sacrifices we make for our God...

Nino Guesthouse

Tarzan

This guesthouse is run by Tarzan (yes, that's the name of the man) and Nino. They have a young child and a 16 y/o son that looks a decade older, who picked us up with the horse.

The toilet and shower are outside. They are quite ok. All the livestock outside makes this toilet the only toilet in the world that smells ok while you're inside and smells like shit when you step outside...
