2013_09_10 Tuesday: Sighnaghi - Tbilisi

Today was supposed to be a very relaxed day, yet somehow it was much tiring than expected. The first part of the day (until 16:00) was spent in Sighnaghi. A most lovely place, European old style. We walked around and admired the view. This little town has two connected parts, one of which is fully surrounded by a wall with towers. The view from this wall and beyond is quite beautiful.

As we walked around, we saw a house for sale, which is situated right on the edge of the hill. It goes for only $300K. Not bad.. There was an old woman who saw us picking through and invited us in. It turns out she wanted to sell us jam. Having appreciated her lovely hospitality, we d got a jar for about $3..

At 16:00 we went to the Marshrutka place for a ride to Tbilisi, but it was full. I noticed a couple getting into a taxi, and had the feeling they were heading to Tbilisi as well. It turned out to be so, and we shared the ride. We arrived at 17:45, and had no hotel. Finding a room turned out to be quite the challenge. After sitting outside for 2 hours searching for hotels online (Tbilisi has a city WiFi network which was of enormous help), we found a place. But just then I noticed an email from Neta and Alon that stated where they stayed. To make a long story short, there was availability there, and off we went.

We had a typical Georgian dinner that involved far too much dough..
