2013_09_15 Sunday: Mestia - rest day

The plan was to start a three day hike today. However, the rain and lack of visibility were sort of in the way. So instead, we stayed in Mestia and didn't do much. We did do laundry though, which was $3 instead of $54 in Tbilisi. Quite the price variance...

We walked around Mestia and got lunch "downtown" (there's just one main street..) at a place called Laila. Great pizza, pretty bad Khachapuri. After, we stopped at what looked like a brand new church. It was closed, so I guess God wasn't around.

Back at the guesthouse, we met Neta and Alon again, after they had competed their 3-day hike, which was 2 days for them as they used a jeep to skip day #2. We plan to do the same after learning that day 2 is least interesting, and we are a bit stressed with time.

Before dinner (while Sharon was fast asleep), I went for a walk to the local airport (3.5km away), which was quite lovely indeed.

A word about food at our guesthouse (Nino). While at first it seemed ok to me, after three days of having essentially the same food, I've come to realize I actually am not a big fan. Especially not of the salt and egg, oil and noodle-like dish, or the other cold dishes. I suppose one notices the degraded level of food when one is not in a state of beastly hunger...
