Woke up at 06:45. Had breakfast at 07:30, which contained lots of old bread, some veggies and other stuff. Left at 08:45 along with 6 other Israelis: Alon & Neta, Yulia and Eli, and Moti and Assaf.
We headed to Shenako. The hike was longer than expected. It was a 500m decline to the river followed by 500m up to Shenako, and then heading back on the same path. In Shenako there was an old nice church. It's a real tiny place.
We met there three other Israelis, on of whom is a cousin of someone who works with me. Small world..
We split from the morning group that continued on to Diklo, and headed back with the new group. At some point they used their afterburners and we continued on our own, and then things got interesting.
Prolog: When we left in the morning I paid no attention to the way, since we were a group. When we arrived last night, I couldn't see a thing. Further, I never asked for the name of the guesthouse.
Plot: We didn't fully recall where to go and didn't know the name of the place. This presented a bit of problem in light of the fact that there were no people around, and had there been any, they would not have known English.. Further, it might be worth mentioning that our large packs were at that guesthouse..
Result: Ultimately, we found the way in what took far too long (an hour and a half), which made the day an 8 hour hike day. We so didn't recall the place that when we were right in front of it, we didn't recognize it and nearly skipped it.
Conclusions:
1. Always recall the name of the place where you stay
2. Always pay attention to where you go...
At night we played Yaniv (card game that's very known to hikers) with Yulia, Eli, Moti and Assaf. Was fun. Brought up some good memories from New Zealand...:)
Tomorrow we will go on a two-day hike with 4 of the Israelis (the ones I played Yaniv with). The other two (Alon & Neta) are taking a taxi to another place. The original plan was a three day hike, but it turns out it might be too long in a country whose treks are not marked at all (thus trying to avoid yet another uncalled for "Daniel adventure"...)
